Another must-see attraction in Barnet is the RAF Museum dedicated to aviation.   The buildings in the museum contain over a hundred aircraft, artefacts, aviation memorabilia, fine art and photographs covering the history of aviation from early balloon flights to the latest jet fighters. The exhibitions are great for all ages with the chance to get up close to the exhibits and younger visitors are encouraged to take part in the interactive aspects of the collection.  Â
A fun day out can be had at Golders Hill Zoo  which is part of Golders Hill park in the large open spaces of Hampstead Heath. This small zoo houses rare and exotic animals from all corners of the globe including Alpacas (pictured), Maras and Red-legged Seriemas For more outdoor fun head to Scratchwood Park and Moat Mount which is the largest area of Woodland in Barnet. Scratchwood has areas of ancient woodland which is mostly oak and hornbeam. In the spring there are many woodland flowers like bluebells and wood anemones to see. Look out for Muntjac deer and woodland birds. Both areas have nature trails. Also see: |
