Situated just west of central London, Hammersmith and Fulham also includes the very popular Shepherd’s Bush http://www.visitshepherdsbush.co.uk/. The entire area has excellent transport links and the centre of London can be reached in under 15 minutes from most tube stations. This area is full of great places to eat, relax and be entertained. In Hammersmith there is the London Apollo for big events http://www.hammersmithapollo.net/. The Riverside studios http://www.riversidestudios.co.uk/ is a renowned arts and media centre in an old water pump factory turned BBC recording studios where you can enjoy a drink overlooking the River Thames. http://www.riversidestudios.co.uk/cgi-bin/calendar.pl Excellent food spots, from budget to ultra-chic are to be found sprinkled throughout this area. You could try the River Café which was The Critic’s Choice Time Out Eating & Drinking 2007 see www.rivercafe.co.uk/rc_page.php. In Fulham, The Beach at Fulham http://www.fulhambeach.co.uk/ serves up great food (with original décor but no sand!). Fulham Palace http://www.fulhampalace.org/ is a nice park on the Thames with a small gallery, picturesque museum and a couple of spots for a good cuppa!
From Hammersmith tube you can take the bus 283 to the London Wetland Centre. The centre has 105 acres of wetland habitats created over a disused Victorian reservoir http://www.wwt.org.uk/centre/119/london_wetland_centre.html.
Hammersmith & Fulham has two premiership football clubs based in the borough – Chelsea http://www.chelseafc.com/ and Fulham Football Club http://www.fulhamfc.com/.
