If your looking for something to get the heart rate racing, you'll find plenty of sports centres and outdoor facilities all over London. Check Yell to find ones in your areas. There are hundreds of public tennis courts run by the local councils where you can play very cheaply, check London Tennis for courts near you. There are also indoor ice-rinks at Queensway and Alexandra Palace and outdoor at Broadgate, Somerset House and  Tower of London.

If you fancy yourself as the new Pele or Maradona you can join a local football team, there are dozens of pitches on Hackney Marshes for the amateur leagues, or dozens of five-a-side leagues you can join check View London for more information. You can't go to far in the city without running into a public swimming pool and there are some great outdoor lidos, which are really popular in summer, the best ones are at Hampstead Heath, Hyde Park and Tooting Bec which is the largest open-air lido in Europe. 

London also has more than its fair share of gyms and health clubs. Other popular pastimes with the beautiful people are yoga, pilates, tai-chi, cross-training and Step classes, which have clubs all over the capital. Exclusive gyms cost a small fortune to join, but local councils often operate very good facilities at reasonable rates.
