A capital city of seven million people spread out over 600 square miles is going to have a lot to amuse its residents while they work, rest and play, and London is no exception.

The bright lights of the West End are most people's first experience of London - Shaftsbury Avenue's theatres, Leicester Square's cinemas, concerts at The Albert Hall, ballet and opera at Covent Garden and the ENO. Of course, getting tickets is another matter, but it's all there waiting if you want it.

You name it, you'll find it in London. From eel 'n' pie shops in the East End to vast Conran eateries in the West End, it's all here. The days of dismal British cuisine are long gone. London is now a veritable smorgasbord of International cuisine, you can barely swing a cat without hitting a celebrity chef.
