For the majority of teaching posts you will be expected to fill in an application form. However, if you are asked to 'apply in writing' it is good practice to provide a well-structured CV with a letter of application.
A CV is your autobiography. It is brief and factual account of relevant features of your life to date.
Presentation - this is as important as content.
Length - two sides of A4 maximum.
Order - use this to emphasise strong points or minimise weak ones - if recent educational results are more impressive than school ones, start with this (reverse chronological order).
Headings - choose those which best reflect you e.g. 'Responsibilities' may be more appropriate than 'activities'.
Neat - use a typewriter or word-processor. First impressions are vital, choose a layout which is attractive and best displays your information. Don't try to cram too much information on to one side of paper. Font size is important, don't use nine point it is too small. Twelve point is probably the largest you should choose. Remember, the reader is probably older than you, and may wear glasses.
Paper - use good quality A4 paper.
Content (See CV example)

- Other qualifications/skills e.g. Driving licence, coaching awards, keyboard skills.
- Referees -
- The Principal/Head of Faculty etc
